The Baton Rouge area has received funding for projects through the Agriculture, Energy and Water and Transportation and Treasury Senate appropriation bills.


Agriculture

The Baton Rouge area will benefit from the following projects funded in the Agricultre Appropriations bill:

  • $1,382,000 to the Pennington Biomedical Research Center for the Human Nutrition Research Center in Preventive Nutrition, Diet, and Obesity
  • $706,000 to the Pennington Biomedical Research Center for the Human Nutrition Special Grant for Louisiana
  • $425,000 to the Louisiana State University Agriculture Center for the Tillage, Silviculture, Waste Management
  • $329,000 to the Louisiana State University Agriculture Center for the Aquaculture Special Research Grant

Energy and Water

In the FY 2006 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill, Sen. Landrieu has secured:

  • $7,000,000 for the Floodway System in the Atchafalaya Basin
  • $6,254,000 for the Lilly Bayou Control Structure project on the Comite River
  • $1,500,000 for the Bayou Sorrell Lock
  • $1,000,000 for the 12-mile diversion canal in East Baton Rouge Parish
  • $585,000 for the Atchafalaya River and Bayous Chene, Boeuf and Black enlargement study
  • $500,000 to continue engineering, design, and construction efforts in accordance with the "Sanitary Sewerage Overflow Corrective Action Plan" in East Baton Rouge Parish
  • $500,000 for the parish plant upgrades and wastewater pump station modifications in Denham Springs
  • $500,000 for Environmental Infrastructure in Ascension Parish
  • $425,000 for the Amite Rive and Tributaries, Bayou Manchac Project
  • $420,000 for the Baton Rouge Harbor
  • $400,000 for the Donaldsonville to the Gulf project
  • $275,000 for the Amite River and Tributaries Ecosystem Restoration Project
  • $250,000 for the West Shore of Lake Ponchartrain
  • $210,000 for studying, restoring and protecting the aquatic ecosystem in the University Lakes
  • $150,000 for West Baton Rouge Parish to continue the study to address riverfront development features of the Mississippi River
  • $100,000 for the West Pearl River Navigation Project

Transportation and Treasury

The Transportation and Treasury Appropriations bill funds the U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the federal judiciary and related agencies. For the Baton Rouge area, Sen. Landrieu has secured the following items in the FY 2006 bill:

  • $250,000 for the Lama Dixon Exposition Center
