United States Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La.)

Thank you for your interest in attending the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Ceremony. This special day celebrates one of the best traditions of our democracy -- the peaceful transition of power -- and the great public interest is a tremendously encouraging reflection of Americans' desire to be part of the process.

This interest has been overwhelming. My office alone has received more than 12,000 requests for tickets from Louisianians from all corners of our state, and I deeply regret that with only a handful of tickets made available to each office, we will be unable to satisfy the vast majority of these requests.

As it is abundantly clear that the "wait list" will dramatically exceed the number of tickets available, my office is no longer accepting requests for tickets.

That being said, the ticketed area on the Capitol Lawn represents only one aspect of the inaugural activities, and there will be opportunities to witness the swearing-in on "Jumbotron" screens on the National Mall and potentially other locations. Please visit the official page of the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) for more information about the festivities around town.

With kindest regards,
