DAY 4: Landrieu, CODEL conclude study of Dutch water management, flood protection

ZEELAND—Sen. Landrieu and members of the CODEL today finished their tour and study of the Netherlands' coastal protection infrastructure, integrated water management system and oil-spill response policies, in Zeeland. DAY 3: CODEL participates in day-long roundtables seeking solutions to common challenges

DELFT—After two days of field visits spanning the Dutch coast, the CODEL remained in Delft today and held day-long discussions at Deltares, the Dutch water institute. Roundtable discussions covered topics including: rising seas, coastal resilience, urban water management and what each country’s delta can learn from the other. DAY 1: Sen. Landrieu begins a third CODEL to Netherlands

THE HAGUE—Accompanied by Louisiana and administration officials, Sen. Landrieu today began a third CODEL to the Netherlands to study the Dutch’s integrated water management systems and coastal restoration efforts. The Army Corps of Engineers and representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency are among some of the federal officials examining the Dutch’s protection infrastructure and system.  READ MORE and view pictures from the first day.

 

Preparing for CODEL to study Dutch Coastal Restoration, Flood Control Efforts
Sen. Landrieu, along with the Royal Netherlands Embassy, are preparing for the third Congressional Delegation to the Netherlands, from Nov. 9 – 12, 2010.  During the trip, Sen. Landrieu and officials from the administration and Louisiana will study the Dutch’s integrated water management systems and coastal restoration efforts.  In the wake of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, this trip will also include an oil-spill response component.
